IV. FIRE & EXPLOSION DATA
FLASH POINT
(Method used TCC): None LEL: None EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Foam CO2, Dry Chemical Water FogUNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS:
This material will not support combustion unless the Methylene chloride has evaporated. Closed containers may explode when exposed to extreme heat. Decomposition of components may cause health hazard and yield carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, phosgene and / or HCL.SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES:
The use of a SCBA is recommended for fire fighters. Water spray may be useful in minimizing vapors and cooling containers exposed to heat and flame.V. HEALTH HAZARD DATA
EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE: Harmful if inhaled; may be fatal or cause blindness if swallowed; cannot be made non-poisonous. Other symptoms: dizziness, nausea, narcosis, headache, and pulmonary conditions. Methylene Chloride is a possible human carcinogen. Repeated overexposure may cause central nervous system, kidney, liver, lung, cardiac, blood, and eye damage. EMERGENCY & FIRST AID PROCEDURES
: EYE CONTACT: Flush with water (low pressure) for at least 15 minutes and call Doctor. SKIN CONTACT: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected areas thoroughly with soap and water. Wash contaminated clothing before re-use. INGESTION: Do not induce vomiting. Get medical attention AT ONCE. Note to Physician: Liver metabolizes part of the dose of Methylene Chloride to carbon monoxide, which may interfere with oxygen transport or utilization. Carboxyhemoglobin levels should be measured in patients symptomatic (headache, nausea, vomiting, malaise, shortness of breath, chest pain, etc.) after exposure to Methylene Chloride.VI. REACTIVITY DATA
Stable normally. Hazardous polymerization won’t occur. Conditions to avoid: heat, open flame, sparks. Avoid: Oxidizers, alkali, H2O.
VII. SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES
If material is released or spilled: absorb with sand, earth or other inert material. Wear protective clothing. Dispose in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. This product is a hazardous waste under RCRA regulation (40 CFR 261).
VIII. SAFE HANDLING AND USE INFORMATION
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:
Wear a respirator, NIOSH/MSHA approved during and after use. Follow Mfg. Directions for use. EYE PROTECTION: Safety goggles.VENTILATION:
Apply only in well-ventilated areas.PROTECTIVE GLOVES:
Use solvent protective rubber gloves, arm protectors, and safety glasses with side shields gloves.IX. SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS & STORAGE DATA
Keep containers closed when not in use. Store away from ignition sources in well-ventilated areas. Keep out of reach of children.
