ENGINE PAINTING KIT PROCEDURES

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

1.  Mix one part Engine Clean (Marine Clean) with three parts hot water.  Spray on and brush until all grease is dissolved.  Then rinse thoroughly with hose and dry.   

2.  Spray motor with Metal-Ready; keep wet for 15-20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with hose and dry.

3.  Every part of engine must be BONE DRY before priming next with POR-15 Rust Preventative Paint.  Start at the top of the motor and work downward.  Two thin, covering coats are best (follow product instructions of POR-15 Rust Preventative Paint).

4.  Apply Engine Enamel over the POR-15 prime coats.  Timing is very important (refer to POR-15 instructions) for achieving the best possible adhesion.  Plan to apply the POR-15 prime coats first thing in the morning so you will be able to topcoat with Engine Enamel in the afternoon.  Allow Engine Enamel to dry overnight.  Full cure may take several days.
